Preserving Independence

Senior Eye Health

Thorough, compassionate screening and management for Cataracts, Dry Eye, and Macular Degeneration.

Vision is Your Independence

As we age, our eyes undergo natural changes. It is easy to dismiss blurry vision or irritated eyes as simply "getting older," but the truth is that most age-related eye conditions can be effectively managed or entirely corrected if caught early.

Dr. Jilber Fouladian specializes in geriatric eye care. Our goal is to protect your safety, keep you reading and driving comfortably, and preserve your quality of life through meticulous medical evaluations.

Comprehensive Screenings

The Three Pillars of Senior Eye Health

Cataracts

Cataracts are the natural clouding of the eye's internal lens, affecting almost everyone as they age. Symptoms include yellowed vision, difficulty reading, and blinding glare from oncoming headlights while driving at night.

Our Approach:

We rigorously monitor your cataracts at every visit. You do not need surgery immediately. When the clouding begins to affect your daily safety and hobbies, Dr. Fouladian acts as your medical advocate. He will guide you through the process, refer you to an elite local cataract surgeon, help you select the best artificial lens (IOL) for your lifestyle, and manage your entire post-operative recovery right here in our office.

Macular Degeneration (AMD)

Age-Related Macular Degeneration affects your sharp, central vision. It makes reading small print impossible and can create dark spots or warped lines in the center of your sight. It is a leading cause of vision loss in older adults.

Our Approach:

Early detection is the only way to slow AMD. Dr. Fouladian uses advanced OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)scanning to look beneath the surface of your retina, detecting microscopic deposits called "drusen" long before you notice any vision loss.
We provide proactive management, including specific nutritional counseling (AREDS2 vitamins) and UV protection strategies. If your AMD transitions from "dry" to "wet," we fast-track your referral to a Retina Specialist to preserve your sight.

Chronic Dry Eye

As we age, our bodies naturally produce fewer tears, and the oil glands in our eyelids frequently become clogged. This results in eyes that constantly burn, water excessively, feel gritty, or look perpetually red.

Our Approach:

You shouldn't have to rely on artificial tears 10 times a day. We offer advanced, in-office restorative therapies, including InMode Envision (Radiofrequency and IPL). These gentle, spa-like treatments physically melt away blockages and eradicate eyelid inflammation, restoring your eye's natural ability to lubricate itself and providing long-lasting comfort.

Also Testing for Glaucoma

Alongside cataracts and macular degeneration, we comprehensively screen for Glaucoma—a silent disease that slowly damages the optic nerve due to high eye pressure. Because it has no symptoms until the very late stages, routine, painless pressure checks and nerve scans at our office are absolutely critical to preventing irreversible blindness.

Medicare Accepted

Because cataracts, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome, and glaucoma are systemic medical conditions, comprehensive evaluations for these diseases are billed to your Medical Insurance (including Medicare), not your routine vision plan.

Standard copays or deductibles determined by your Medicare or secondary medical insurance plan will apply. A refraction (checking for glasses) is considered a non-covered service by Medicare.
